Baths in the Area
Egerszalók Salt Hill and Thermal Bath: The village's main pride is the Salt Hill, unique in Europe, continuously built by thermal water erupting from the depths of the earth at nearly 70°C. At the foot of the hill, the Saliris Resort Spa & Wellness Bath and the more nostalgic Nostalgia Bath await those seeking relaxation.
Demjén Thermal Valley: Neighboring Demjén hosts Central Europe's largest cave bath, the Cascade Cave and Adventure Bath. Pools and slides with a special atmosphere in tunnels carved into the mountain offer experiences for all ages.
Bogács Thermal and Beach Bath: Located at the southern foot of the Bükk Mountains, Bogács bath is known for its sulphurous medicinal water. Besides bathing, the village is also famous for its renowned wine cellars.
Bükkszék Thermal and Beach Bath: Bükkszék is home to one of the country's most famous medicinal waters, Salvus. In addition to the bath built on the high-mineral-content water, the water is also suitable for inhalation.
Historical Adventures and Castles
Eger (10 minutes by car): Discover the history of Eger Castle, explore the casemates, and admire the panorama overlooking the city. See Europe's northernmost Turkish-era Minaret, then visit the monumental Basilica. You can end the evening in one of the tuff-carved cellars of the Szépasszony Valley, tasting the Egri Bikavér (Bull's Blood of Eger).
Castles in the Mátra and Bükk Mountains: The area is full of historic castle ruins. In the Mátra, the ruins of Sirok and Kisnána castles, while in the Bükk, the ruins of Dédes and Szarvaskő castles offer exciting hiking destinations for history lovers.
Natural Sights
Local Attractions: In Egerszalók, it is worth visiting the cave dwellings operating as an open-air museum at the end of Sáfrány Street, as well as the mysterious beehive stones (kaptárkövek) located on the outskirts of the village.
Verpelét Volcanic Cone: The nearby volcanic butte in Verpelét is a unique geological formation, offering beautiful views of the surroundings from its top. The area is protected and can be explored via a nature trail.
Valleys of Cserépfalu and the Bükk Plateau: Starting from Cserépfalu, you can explore the Hór Valley, where the Suba-lyuk cave is famous for its prehistoric human findings. More experienced hikers can reach the Bükk Plateau from here, the vast karst plateau of the mountain range with its unique wildlife.
Active Recreation and Sports
Szilvásvárad: Travel through the Szalajka Valley on the forest narrow-gauge railway to the Fátyol Waterfall, taste freshly grilled trout, and meet the elegant horses of the world-famous Lipizzan Stud.
Winter Sports: In winter, with adequate snow conditions, both Mátra and Bükk offer skiing and sledding opportunities. The most famous ski resorts are located at Kékestető and Bánkút.
Fishing: For fishing enthusiasts, the Laskó Valley Reservoir next to the village and the smaller and larger fishing lakes in the area provide excellent opportunities for peaceful relaxation.

Winter (January/February): Egerszalók Wine & Skate Day (Borkorcsolya Nap) – A unique winter wine tour where you can walk through the village cellars with a glass around your neck, tasting mulled wine and local delicacies.
Spring (May): Egri Csillag Weekend – As spring arrives, winemakers present their latest vintage Egri Csillag wines in Eger, on Dobó Square.
Mid-Summer (July): Egri Bikavér Festival – A multi-day festival in Eger celebrating wine and gastronomy, featuring the best Bikavér wines and concerts.
Late Summer (August/September): Egerszalók Harvest Start Wine Tour and Eger Castle Festival (Végvári Vigasságok), where you can relive the atmosphere of the 1552 siege.
Autumn (September-October): Harvest Festivals – In the Szépasszony Valley and surrounding villages, the grape harvest is celebrated with cheerful parades and festivities.
Winter (December): Advent Fair in Eger – Dobó Square is dressed in festive lights, where mulled wine, chimney cake (kürtőskalács), and artisan goods create a cozy Christmas atmosphere.
